whatthe? is built for spontaneous voices, disagreement, jokes, and personality. It is not built for intimidation, exploitation, or coordinated abuse. These rules apply to voices, profile images, usernames, tags, reactions, and off-platform behaviour that creates a credible risk on whatthe?.
Never allowed
- Sexual exploitation or sexualisation of minors, grooming, or attempts to obtain sexual content from a minor.
- Credible threats, instructions for serious violence, glorification of violent harm, or encouragement of suicide or self-harm.
- Hate or dehumanisation targeting protected characteristics.
- Non-consensual intimate content, sexual extortion, or invasive sexual harassment.
- Doxxing, sharing highly sensitive personal information, or encouraging others to locate and harm someone.
- Terrorist, violent extremist, or criminal recruitment and support.
- Fraud, phishing, malware, or attempts to steal accounts and money.
Not welcome
- Targeted harassment, humiliation, stalking, repeated unwanted contact, or dogpiling.
- Impersonation that misleads people about identity or affiliation.
- Spam, bulk posting, engagement manipulation, repetitive promotions, or automated activity.
- Dangerous challenges, instructions that create unreasonable physical risk, or harmful misinformation presented to cause immediate harm.
- Attempts to evade a block, suspension, ban, upload limit, age rule, or moderation decision.
Extra protection for 16–17-year-olds
Teen and adult social spaces are separated internally. Attempts to bypass that separation, solicit private contact from minors, sexualise minors, or manipulate a young person into secrecy are treated as severe safety violations. We may preserve evidence and report apparent exploitation or imminent danger to appropriate authorities.
How enforcement works
- Content may lose distribution while it is reviewed.
- We may remove content and notify the account.
- Accounts may receive warnings or temporary posting restrictions.
- Serious or repeated violations may result in suspension or permanent ban.
- Attempts to evade enforcement may lead to action against related accounts.
Report and appeal
Use the visible flag control on posts, polls, replies, profiles, and conversations. Block an account when you want immediate separation. If you believe we made a mistake, contact Safety with your username, the decision, and any relevant context. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, or unnecessary identity documents.
